Over 100 young people came together for an unforgettable day of sport, creativity and connection at Britwell Youth and Community Project for the second Big Up Britwell event.
The youth-led event was packed with high-energy activities designed to get young people active, inspired and heard. From the court to the kitchen, participants had the chance to try a wide range of activities, including fast-paced basketball sessions with TXL, boxing technique training with Bulldog Boxing, and cricket skills led by Berkshire Cricket.
There was also a chance to get creative in the kitchen, where Chef Kevin Muhammad hosted a smash burger and healthy pancake workshop, while Salthill VR offered young people the opportunity to explore virtual reality.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was the BYCC music studio, which proved a surprise hit. Young people gathered to sing, rap and experiment with music, guided by Gidz, creating an atmosphere full of energy and self-expression.
What made the event truly special was that it was co-produced with young people themselves. Slough Youth Parliament led listening sessions in the lead-up to the event, ensuring young voices shaped the activities and the overall experience.
Organisers thanked Get Berkshire Active for the funding that helped make the vibrant and inclusive event possible, as well as the team at Britwell Youth and Community Project for hosting the day.
Rob Deeks, CEO at Together As One said: “When we trust and empower our youth, the results are extraordinary!”
