The newly appointed Deputy Director for Public Health Slough, Kelly Evans, was introduced to some of Slough’s voluntary sector groups and faith organisations on Tuesday by Slough CVS staff, Asma Aziz and Kinder Bassi. The tour aimed to introduce Kelly to some of Slough’s vibrant voluntary sector groups and faith organisations, shedding light on their valuable contributions to the community.The tour began at the Slough CVS offices, where Turning Point, who work with clients with drug or alcohol issues, recently established themselves on the ground floor. This was followed by a visit to 29 Church Street, which houses both Together As One and Home-Start Slough. Here, Kelly was given insights into the remarkable health and well-being projects aimed at young people, as well as informative health awareness sessions that are benefiting local families.The tour then moved to Slough’s busy High Street, to view the inspirational quotes wall. The visit continued with a stop at Slough Hub, which showcased its arts and educational projects. Then onto Salt Hill Park, where they met the dedicated team at Slough Refugee Support, learning about their work with asylum seekers and refugees.The cultural tour concluded with a visit to JMIC, where Kelly was given a tour of the Mosque. They observed the weekday prayer and library session which provided an insight into one faith practice within the community.Kelly Evans, Deputy Director for Public Health in Slough said, “Thank you for showing me all the amazing work that is going on in the community.
