Slough Art for All Adults, a #OneSlough funded project, is a community project aimed at adults who are seeking a creative outlook to meet regularly on Thursdays, 12:30pm-2:30pm at the accessible St Mary’s Church in Slough. This central location sees people from across Slough take part in arts and crafts activities.

The group, led by Sat and Yvonne, have a core group of about fifteen regulars, many who have been there since the start. During the pandemic, the group continued, with online art projects. More recently the group has seen their member numbers increasing. Some local residents have seen the activity listed on the Wellbeing for Slough Directory and others are referred by local organisations, such as Talking Therapies.
It is a very relaxing activity in a beautiful, serene space, with everyone working at their own pace, in different mediums, but receiving helpful tuition and support from Yvonne, Sat and the volunteers whenever needed. Attendees are provided with art equipment and enjoy refreshments while there.
Sat said, “People can often feel lonely and isolated in their homes. This can lead to anxiety and depression. This project aims to use art to improve the health and wellbeing of residents. The free art sessions are here for anyone who enjoys art and wants to meet likeminded people. We provide a welcoming space for anyone who enjoys art, no matter their ability, they are welcome.”
One member, Sandy said, “I can paint at home, but I come here for the company, to meet people and to catch up with everyone. We sometimes arrange trips out together too, we went to an art gallery in London recently. I think it would be wonderful for us to exhibit some of our work in Slough.”
