On Wednesday, the Slough Community Forum, organised by Slough CVS, marked Black History Month, with an inspiring and well-attended event that brought together over 80 participants.
The forum served as a powerful platform for reflection, collaboration, and celebration, honouring the vital role Black history continues to play in shaping a stronger, more inclusive future for all.
Highlights of the day included a lively Speed Networking Session, a Workshop on Partnership Working led by Slough CVS CEO Asma Aziz, and a workshop on Health Inequalities featuring an expert panel .Each session was designed to spark collaboration and address the challenges faced by Slough’s diverse communities.
Asma Aziz, CEO, Slough CVS said: “A big thank you to all our fantastic partners for showing how we can combine our ‘superpowers’ to strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of our communities. Slough CVS was proud to lead this event, but it’s the power of partnership working across our communities that made it truly special.”
Pamela Abankwa from the Britwell Youth and Community Project added:
“Thank you to Slough CVS for hosting their amazing Networking Forum! I loved the focus on Black History Month, and the panel was incredible in sharing their experiences around mental and public health in the Black community. Seeing so many community-led groups and small charities in one space left me feeling empowered — we’re not alone, and there’s great potential for collaboration beyond working in silos.”
The day truly captured the spirit of Black History Month — celebrating identity and culture, amplifying voices, and inspiring lasting partnerships that will continue to make a positive impact across Slough.
