One of our COVID-19 vaccination centre volunteers has been recognised for racking up more than 1,000 hours of service to the public in Slough. “#OneSlough Hi-Viz Hero” Ramdane Haddadi, was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by The Mayor of Slough, Councillor Mohammed Nazir and surrounded by his fellow volunteers and staff at the Salt Hill Park Vaccination Centre.Ramdane, who lives in Slough, might be called a “super volunteer” because before he started at the vaccination centre in January 2021, he’d already been helping out regularly at the Brett Foundation in Maidenhead, and separately at Wexham Park Hospital. He estimated that he volunteered for around 10 hours a day in his first few months at Salt Hill in 2021 and still manages to do stewarding shifts up to five days a week.
Ramdane said: “I was on Furlough for a year with my previous job, doing nothing, and I just wanted to help. Back in Algeria, I was always going to my father’s village and helping out the older people with their shopping and things. I live close to the vaccination centre anyway, and everyone is so nice. I meet new people every day and I’ve made a lot of friends, we laugh together.” Sign up to volunteer
