On Monday (27 March) the High Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire, Alka Kharbanda presented an achievement certificate to long serving #OneSlough volunteer, Robert Stedmond.

One of the High Sheriff’s themes for her year was Hidden Heroes – those who quietly work in the community without fuss or fanfare to help others. Robert was certainly one of those people.

During the Pandemic, Robert volunteered over 700 hours at Vaccination Sites across Slough. He has since volunteered with StoryTrails, an immersive storytelling experience hosted at the Curve Library; as a marshal during the Knife Angel’s stay in Slough and as a Community Champion, disseminating vital health information to communities in Slough. Robert has also supported Get Berkshire Active’s School Games and is often involved in local litter picking events organized through the Slough Anti-Litter Society and is now a regular volunteer ‘fixer’ at Slough’s Repair Café.

Tagreed Ismail, Volunteer Manager at Slough CVS said, “Robert Stedmond is a prolific volunteer who has given his time and energy to a wide range of causes in Slough. He brings boundless amounts of enthusiasm, positivity and reliability to every role and always shows up with a smile, no matter the task or the weather. His community spirit and desire to help is an example to us all!”

Robert was joined by his fellow #OneSlough volunteers, Slough CVS and Slough Borough Council teams to celebrate this achievement.
