The TukTuk is back in Slough!

This week, the TukTuk visited James Elliman School, where the Community Wellbeing Champions engaged with parents while they collected their kids.

Even with a heat wave on Friday 17th June with temperatures soaring to 32C+, the #OneSlough Community Wellbeing Champions took the shiny new TukTuk (aka rickshaw) for a ride around the town!

After heading out from the Slough CVS office on Church Street in Slough, they headed over to the Stoke Poges Lane Masjid in time for Friday prayers, where they were met by happy community members.

‘’I am so humbled and happy as to how much time, dedication, and commitment the government and the #OneSlough team are giving to keep us all safe and healthy,’’ said Muhammed Ayub. ‘’ I came to the UK over 57 years ago when I was 16 and it is so nice to see the TukTuk as it is a beautiful reminder to me of my home.’’

Mr Ayub who is due for his second booster, said he had just made his appointment a few days prior to go to Salt Hill Activity Centre to have his jab.

Also at the Masjid was Slough resident Ijaz Ahmed who had two previous doses in Pakistan, but he was unaware that he could have this registered with the NHS and get his first booster jab as well.

‘’I’m so glad the team is here today spreading the message to the community as to how to keep safe. I now know that I can have my vaccines registered by just walking into to Salt Hill Activity Centre and have my booster by providing my proof of vaccination. Well done to the team, this is fantastic.’’

The #OneSlough team carried on down Elliman Avenue/Shaggy Calf Lane and Wexham Road to the Diamond Road Masjid and then over to Manor Park just in time for the afternoon school run.

If you see the TukTuk, take a selfie, hashtag #TukTukSlough on social media and we’ll share it!
