1.What kind of training does Slough CVS (SCVS) offer?
- Health & Wellbeing Club: This training focuses on the physical and mental wellbeing of volunteers, community members, and staff. It covers topics such as mental health, stress management, healthy lifestyle habits, and self-care techniques.
- Awareness Hub: This training is designed to raise awareness of various social and cultural issues affecting the local community. It covers topics such as understanding topical issues, diversity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity.
- Community Building Leaders: This training is for those who are interested in developing their skills as community leaders. It covers topics such as leadership styles, Marketing, Finance, social enterprise and community engagement.
- Volunteer Passport: This training programme provides a comprehensive overview of volunteering, including Safeguarding Adults/Children, communication skills, equality & diversity, and boundaries & confidentiality. It is intended to support volunteers in their role and help them get the most out of their volunteering experience.
2.Who can attend SCVS training?
Individuals, organisations, and groups who work or volunteer in the community and voluntary sector can access SCVS training sessions.
The training is usually open to anyone who is interested in improving their skills and knowledge in Slough and the surrounding areas.

3.How much does SCVS training cost?
Slough CVS training is free to join for Slough and Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead residents and voluntary sector, but there is a cost for us to deliver it. A charge of £10 will be incurred for non-attendance not notified to us within 48 hrs of the course start time; this will be invoiced to you or your organisation.
4.How do I sign up for SCVS training?
- A full list of our training sessions can be found here
- Select the ones you are interested in.
- Read the course description, prerequisites, and dates to ensure it is suitable for you.
- If the course is available for registration, you can follow the instructions on the website to sign up. This will include filling out an online form with your contact information.
- Once you have successfully completed the registration process, you will receive a confirmation email and further information about the course, including the location, dates, joining instructions and any additional materials you may need. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 24hours please notify the team at training@sloughcvs.org.uk
- Please ensure you can access Zoom ahead of the session to avoid a delayed start. We are unable to accept anyone arriving into the session 15 minutes after the start time. If, after booking you are unable to attend the training session, please inform us in plenty of time to enable us to offer the place to someone else.
5.What is the format of SCVS training?
The format of CVS training offered by SCVS can be either online on Zoom or in-person at a Slough venue. Check each session for the length of each training session.
6.Can SCVS provide customised training for my organisation?
Yes, SCVS may provide customised training for an organisation, depending on your specific needs and requirements of. Please contact the SCVS training team at training@sloughcvs.org.uk
