Our regular women’s support sessions have provided a safe space for Afghan women to come together, share their experiences, and support one another. We’ve hosted workshops on health and wellbeing, parenting, confidence building, and digital skills all designed to empower our members with knowledge and tools for everyday life.
In addition, our Walk and Talk sport session and English communication support classes have helped many women improve their communication skills, build confidence, and feel more connected to the wider community. We’ve also offered volunteering and training opportunities, encouraging women to take active roles in shaping their futures and giving back to the community.
Recently, we’ve been proud to collaborate with local partners to take part in community events like (Sohbat wa Sobhana) and cultural celebrations, promoting greater understanding and unity. These events have given our members a platform to share Afghan culture, food, and traditions, while also learning from others.
Hangama Liwal Saam, AWAZ Afghan Women’s Group Lead said: “Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue building on this work, with more workshops, community events, and outreach planned for the coming months. We’re grateful for the ongoing support from volunteers, local organisations, and the amazing women Farzana Noori who are the heart of AWAZ. Together, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive future.”
