A stampede of creativity at the Trunks across the Thames Artist Selection Event

Thames Hospice was transformed into a riot of colour last Wednesday as it hosted the official artist selection evening for the highly anticipated ‘Trunks across the Thames’ public art trail.

Over 100 partners and supporters attended the vibrant event, where they were tasked with the exciting challenge of selecting their top three favourite designs. On display were 80 stunning pieces, meticulously shortlisted from an incredible 300 entries submitted by artists both local and from further afield. The atmosphere was described as electric, with guests noting the exceptional level of talent and creativity on show.

The event marks a critical turning point as the trail moves from concept to creation. Final pairings between artists and sponsors will now begin, bringing the community one step closer to seeing these designs leap off the page and onto the streets of Slough and Windsor.

Jess Seymour, Project Manager for Trunks across the Thames, commented on the significance of the milestone:

“This event is a true celebration of the incredible synergy between our partners and the community. It’s the moment where the vision for ‘Trunks across the Thames’ really starts to take shape, and we begin to see how these beautiful designs will eventually transform our streets.

“By matching our sponsors with their favourite pieces, we are officially starting the process of bringing this art to life for everyone to enjoy. This is where the magic begins.”

This milestone is a major step toward the official trail launch, which aims to bring joy to the local community while raising vital funds for the specialist care provided by Thames Hospice.
