Befriending Drop In Welcomes New Volunteers

Earlier this month, we welcomed prospective volunteers to our Befriending Drop-In event at 29 Church Street. The session offered a warm and informal opportunity for attendees to learn about our Wellbeing Friend roles and connect with our Volunteer Manager, Tagreed, over a cuppa and conversation.

Our Wellbeing Friends provide a friendly telephone befriending service for people in Slough who are experiencing social isolation or loneliness. A simple conversation can truly brighten someone’s day!

Tagreed Ismail, Volunteer Manager at Slough CVS, shared: “What makes this role so powerful is how small acts of kindness—like picking up the phone—can help people feel seen, valued, and less alone. Our Wellbeing Friends are truly making a difference in their community.”

We’re currently looking for more compassionate volunteers to join our team. If you’re passionate about supporting others and want to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you!
