Over 100 Slough Carers of all ages brought their picnics to Upton Court Park on a very hot sunny day last Saturday to celebrate the end of Carers Week and enjoy some relaxation time with their cared for.

The event was attended by Cllr. Robert Stedmond, a #OneSlough volunteer and Cllr. Siobhan Dauti.

Sitting under the shade under the trees in the lovely park, Carers enjoyed live singing from Saida Mughol and Rahi Bains, dancing and SWIPE’s steel band performed throughout the event.

   
Entertainment at the event

Everyone, young and old alike enjoyed activities organised by Arts Classes Group and Active Slough as well as henna and face painting.

It didn’t stop there. Slough CVS’ Wellbeing and #OneSlough Volunteer teams handed out snacks and water. Young Carers received a goody bag, made up of treats donated by Tom King and Bidfood, through SBCP and Slough Outreach. Older Carers were not forgotten and also received a goody bag with a gift courtesy of John Crane and Costco. Carers’ groups and their clients have also been invited for a buffet this Saturday at Slough Mencap, funded by the proceeds from a charity marathon by Tom King and Cllr. Stedmond .

Slough Carers Support & Wellbeing Manager, Kinder Bassi spoke about the event, saying:

“It was an opportunity to bring everyone together – foster carers, young carers, children/their cared for and volunteers – and have a fun afternoon. It’s also a chance for us to give something back to our many carers representing many carer groups in Slough.”
