Creating truly inclusive workplaces for neurodivergent employees

This week, NeuroDiverse Community CIC had the absolute pleasure of delivering our “Inclusion for Neurodivergent Employees” training at Slough CVS.
A brilliant session focused on moving beyond simply understanding neurodivergence and towards creating workplaces where neurodivergent employees can genuinely belong, contribute and thrive.

The session explored:
🧠 Understanding neurodivergence in the workplace
💬 Communication, reasonable adjustments and different working styles
🛡️ Psychological safety and why it matters
⚖️ Employers’ responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010
🤝 Creating cultures where employees feel safe to ask for support
🌱 Practical ways organisations can empower neurodivergent colleagues
For NeuroDiverse Community CIC, inclusion isn’t about expecting neurodivergent people to continually adapt themselves to systems that weren’t designed with them in mind, it’s about asking: “What can we change about the environment, culture and systems so that everyone has the opportunity to succeed?” And perhaps most importantly, it’s about listening to neurodivergent people themselves.
Kirsty Northam, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at NeuroDiverse Community CIC said: “A huge thank you to Slough CVS for inviting us in and for creating such a thoughtful, open and engaging space for these conversations. We believe that psychological safety, meaningful inclusion and reasonable adjustments aren’t optional extras, they’re fundamental to creating healthy, equitable workplaces.”
