Our recent participation in the ‘Community Led Research Pilot Event’ at Reading University was a vibrant celebration of our collaborative efforts to enhance community projects and uplift local residents through the power of research.
Asma Aziz, Head of Capacity Building and Fundraising, emphasised the invaluable role of the project in training local community researchers. Representatives from the Slough Hub and Art Beyond Belief shared their experiences, highlighting the impact of community-led research on their projects.
Dr. Alice Mpofu-Coles, the driving force behind this project, was instrumental in its success. Professor Adrian Bell, Dean of Prosperity and Resilience, recognised the contributions of Slough Groups, including Slough Refugee Support, Art Beyond Belief, Anti Litter Society, The Slough Hub and Together as One.
James Parker and Rosanne Naicker from Slough CVS worked with the groups across Slough on this pilot project.

Rosanne said, “Well done to all participating groups, we learnt a great deal about running a community led research. It wasn’t always easy, but we we’ve got there with some amazing results.”

The Slough community’s dedication throughout this research pilot has been commendable. This experience has been a valuable learning opportunity, and we are optimistic that the insights gained will advance our community science initiatives.
