Groups and partners from the community, voluntary, business and statutory sectors came together to offer information and advice at Slough’s second Great Get Together event last weekend.

Parents attending swimming school, gym users and residents were able to find out about services and support on offer in Slough at the event held at Langley Leisure Centre on Saturday, 24 June.

The Slough’s Great Summer Get Together followed the success of the winter event held in January at The Centre.

Part of the national movement and events, it offered partners a chance to be on hand for residents to find out more about what is available in Slough.

Those attending included: Barclays, Slough 50 Plus Forum, Department of Work and Pensions, Talking Therapies Wellbeing Service, Slough CVS volunteers, SCVS Wellbeing Friends, Young People with Dementia, HSBC, Slough Outreach, Community Learning and Skills, Cippenham Carers and The Slough Hub.

The event was organised in partnership between Everyone Active, Slough Borough Council and the Department of Work and Pensions.

Becs Curley, community development officer at Slough Borough Council, said: “These events are such a great opportunity for residents to come and speak to groups, businesses and organisations in person about the support and information they might be looking for. Thank you to all the partners who gave up their time on a very warm Saturday to be there for residents. It was lovely to see and speak to so many people.”
