International Day of Yoga

The IDUK Group (Indian Diaspora in UK) celebrated International Yoga Day in true spirit and grandeur at a vibrant event in London, attended by hundreds of participants from diverse communities.

The event welcomed several esteemed guests, including the Mayor of Slough, Cllr. Siobhan Dauti, Former MP Virendra Sharma Ji, Deputy Mayor Cllr Neel Rattan Rana, Mr. Gurucharan Singh Gill National President- Sikh Sangat RSS India) and many councillors who joined the celebrations and appreciated the efforts of the Indian diaspora in promoting India’s cultural heritage.

The programme began with a stunning yoga demonstration by Ghanvi Shetty, followed by mesmerising cultural performances by Team Swarangi Reading, an energetic Zumba session led by Ritika Arora, and an invigorating Yoga Masterclass by Vibhu Kundra Arora. The spiritual side of the event was elevated by a Sahaj Yoga session by Acharya Abhinav Yogi Ji and concluded with a deeply relaxing meditation led by Meditation Guru Parmanand Maharaj Ji from India.

The co-founders and directors of IDUK – Hirdesh Gupta, Mr. Ajay Murudkar, and Mr. Alok Gupta – extended heartfelt thanks to all attendees, sponsors, supporting organisations, and volunteers. They emphasised that “Yoga is a timeless gift to humanity – a practice that transcends caste, creed, region, or religion, and offers peace, balance, and well-being to all.”

They also paid tribute to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for his global leadership in having Yoga recognised at the United Nations, making it a universal celebration of wellness.
