In a ceremony held on 8 May 2024 in the Mayor’s Parlour, Slough’s Mayor, Cllr Amjad Abbasi, extended a warm welcome to members of the Slough community with guests including former Mayors, representatives from Slough’s business community, and dedicated individuals from various local organisations.

Mayor Abbasi took this opportunity to express his gratitude by presenting awards to those who have shown exceptional support to the Mayor’s office. One such recipient was Shahid Qazi, who was honoured for his outstanding contribution to community engagement and wellbeing initiatives in his role as Wellbeing Project Officer at Slough CVS.

Shahid’s efforts have helped to promote energy saving information in the community, encouraging people to improve their wellbeing at home and tackle poverty crisis. The project works in partnership with other community organisations to reach vulnerable and underrepresented communities.

Shahid recently engaged with attendees at the Kenya UK Utamaduni Day in Upton Park, where communities from across Slough, RBWM and Heathrow came together to celebrate Swahili culture and language.

Congratulations to Shahid and all the recipients for their positive impact in the community.
