On Saturday 24th January, Langley Pavilion came alive, buzzing with energy, as more than 400 residents came together for Slough’s first Hobby Festival, creating one of the most joyful community gatherings of the year. With 60 different hobby stands — from arts, crafts, music and dance to gaming, books, wellbeing, and cultural groups, the event showcased the incredible diversity of interests across our town. People of all ages explored new activities, met local clubs, and connected with like-minded neighbours, with smiles everywhere you looked. The festival was a powerful reminder that when we create spaces to share what we love, community spirit truly comes alive. The event was organised by Viva Slough, as part of their Rhyzome project to uncover, hidden creativity in the town and encourage more people to become creative.
“The buzz in the room was unbelievable; it was one of the most exhilarating community experiences we have ever seen,” said Amandeep Managat, Deputy Leader of Viva Slough. “People weren’t just watching, they were joining in, meeting new groups, signing up to clubs, and discovering talents they didn’t know existed.”
