The #OneSlough Awards 2023, saw over 220 guests gather at Baylis House on Friday 17th November, for a celebration of volunteering, designed to recognise and celebrate the incredible spirit of unity and collaboration that defines our Slough community.
A panel of judges were faced with a record 130 nominations this year. With so many deserving individuals and groups, it was not an easy task.
Volunteers, members of charities and community groups and business sponsors, shared an Asian style buffet, during an evening of fun and entertainment, which started with a champagne and chocolate fountain reception and ended on the dance floor.
The evening was organised by Slough CVS and hosted by Dr Jim O’Donnell and Dominique Unsworth, CEO, Resource Productions, with a welcome from The Mayor of Slough, Cllr Amjad Abassi and keynote speech by Fiona Edwards, CEO, Frimley NHS. 15 trophies and certificates were presented by representatives of Slough Borough Council and the NHS to the Winners and Highly Commended on the night.
Ramesh Kukar, Chief Executive Officer for Slough CVS, said “Tonight, we recognised the outstanding contributions of those who have gone above and beyond to make a difference. We celebrate the volunteers who have tirelessly given their time and energy to help others, the businesses that have supported our community, the charities that have provided essential services and support to Slough residents. None of this would be possible without them.”
The Mayor of Slough presented a special award to Ramesh Kukar for his contribution to the voluntary sector in Slough.
