Voluntary group, Pakistan Welfare Association (PWA) celebrated 60 years in Slough with a joint Achievement Awards, fundraiser and Independence Day event on Saturday 15th August at Iqra Primary School. Over 320 guests attended the event to celebrate the anniversary and recognise individuals and organisations in the community that have made a difference.
Their first achievement awards acknowledged a range of winners from 21 years old to over 100 years old. There were 12 awards presented for significant achievers ranging from business of the year to community workers and young people.
Among the Awards were the President’s Award presented to Mohammed Hussain, a 100-year-old Muslim war veteran of the Battle of Monte Cassino during World War II. He is now a passionate regular member at the PWA Lunch Club and advocate of recognising the role Muslims played in World War II.

Posthumous Award – Sardar Hussain (Late)
