Refugee Week – Everyone Welcome at The Curve

This year’s Refugee Week theme, “Community as a Superpower,” was brought to life through interactive activities. Visitors were invited to write their own “superpower” on a Post-it note and display it on a wall in the reception area. A large world map encouraged guests to pin their country of origin, with pins spanning from Afghanistan and India to Poland and the Caribbean—visibly showcasing the diversity of the community.

Chantelle Kingsbury from TVPS shared her appreciation for the event, saying:
“What a lovely morning spent with and meeting some amazing people! Thank you for having us. These events really help TVPS and BeYou reach the wider community and have made us more visible.”

Hangama Liwal Saam also praised the event, stating:
“It was an amazingly well-organised programme. We were thrilled to see so many new members expressing interest in joining the AWAZ Women’s Group. A heartfelt thank you to Helen for her incredible support and for always ensuring that community members and volunteers feel connected and never left out.”

The ‘Everyone Welcome’ event was a celebration of inclusion, resilience, and the strength of a diverse community working together.
