Slough CVS CEO Ramesh Kukar to retire this year

Slough CVS, a leading voluntary and community sector organisation, today announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Ramesh Kukar, will retire at the end of December 2023. Ramesh has served as CEO of Slough CVS for over 15 years, during which time he has led the organisation through significant growth and development.

Under Ramesh’s leadership, Slough CVS has become the trusted partner to hundreds of voluntary and community organisations and led many of the highest profile community impact programs. Some of the highlights of his time have been: securing and developing the Church Street facilities for non-profit organisations making it a vital resource for the community; setting up of #OneSlough and coordination of the COVID vaccination response including the creation of the Salt Hill Vaccination Centre; and initiating the annual Awards ceremony that brings Business, Charities and the wider community together to recognise the contribution of some amazing people and organisations. Most impressive has been how Ramesh has steered Slough CVS through a period of extended austerity, securing a number of large contracts with The Lottery Fund, The Arts Council and Slough Borough Council to ensure the future of the organisation.

In a statement, Jamie Green, Chairman of the Slough CVS Board of Trustees, said: “Ramesh has been a tremendous servant to Slough CVS over the past 15 years. He has led the organisation with passion, vision, and dedication. Under his leadership, Slough CVS has been making an ever increasingly greater impact on the lives of people in our community.

“We are grateful for Ramesh’s service and wish him all the best in his retirement. We are also confident that Slough CVS will continue to thrive in the years to come.”

The Board of Trustees has announced that the post of CEO will be frozen temporarily while it considers the long-term future leadership needs of our organisation. In the interim period, Ramesh will take on the role of Senior Advisor, dedicating one day a week to the charity. He will support Vicki Atherton, our Director of Operations, to ensure a seamless transition and continued success.
