At Slough Council for Voluntary Service (SCVS), we believe in creating a community where everyone is treated fairly and with respect. As part of our commitment to anti-racism and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), we recently joined the Anti Racism Alliance Forum, led by Karla Innis from Berkshire NHS.
In a recent meeting, we discussed how we can better engage with our local communities and work together to build a strong framework for anti-racism and EDI within the voluntary and statutory sector. This framework will guide our actions, helping us to make sure everyone feels valued, included, and supported in everything we do.
By working closely with others, SCVS is committed to driving change and ensuring that anti-racism and inclusion are at the heart of all our community projects and services.
Asma Aziz, Acting CEO at SCVS says: “Slough is a diverse town with a rich global majority community, and we are proud to celebrate Race Equality Week through our #OneSlough platform. With over 170 languages spoken across the town, this initiative unites people of all faiths, cultures, and varied backgrounds/experiences, creating a space for sharing ideas, collaborating, and making a positive impact. Together, our volunteers and community organisations strive to strengthen the bonds within one of the most diverse towns in the country.”
