Wild Windsor have come to the rescue!

NeuroDiverse Community CIC raised the issue of the pond located on Victoria Park in Broom Farm Estate, and Wild Windsor answered the call.

The area which was previously used as a run off for water from surrounding farms, holds the capability of becoming a natural pond encouraging biodiversity and restoring natural habitat.

Work began on Sunday the 26th of July 2026, as the Wild Windsor volunteers jumped in and started the restoration process to bring the pond back to life.

Julian from Wild Windsor said, “We have a lot of work to do but we’re excited to be involved in bringing back natural biodiversity”.

Kirsty from NeuroDiverse Community CIC is beyond excited for this project. “Victoria Park is part of our Armed Forces community and used daily by not only Forces families, but the wider community surrounding it. Although the park itself is owned by RBWM, we feel very protective of the space and the natural habitat that supports our local wildlife here. I’ve been desperate to rewild this pond for years. To see Wild Windsor actually doing something towards that dream is incredible. It restores my faith in humanity and within the community.” 

Eco Forces is an environmental group run by NeuroDiverse Community CIC which supports outdoor learning and sustainability for families with SEND. “Our environment is our responsibility. Through Eco Forces we are sharing the love for our local wildlife and biodiversity. We are teaching families how to respect nature, protect our world and grow their own food. Accountability is shifting and we as the community are standing up and embracing it. My proudest moments in all the sessions we have, is to see that love for nature growing in our children, and watching how they interact with each other during the activities. We have a Young Leader called Charlie who is a natural leader in this area. His knowledge and dedication to supporting the environment is amazing. Watching him teach the other group members about how to plant and care for nature is so inspiring. He’s going to do some amazing things.”

Residents of Broom Farm Estate are happy that Wild Windsor have come to support the rewilding of the pond. One even remarked, “It’s about time! We can’t wait!”
