Cohort 8 of the Frimley Academy Wavelength Programme recently concluded, marking an incredibly rewarding experience for its participants. Wavelength is a 5-month leadership programme to develop the skills, mindset, knowledge and relationships that support effective, joined up digital transformation across the Frimley Health and Care Integrated Care System (ICS).
The group, comprising of more than 40 individuals from various organisations including the NHS, local authorities, the voluntary sector, and the police, came together with one purpose: to tackle “knotty” IT problems—challenges too significant to be addressed individually or within their teams.
The programme’s structure included four in-person workshops and two online sessions, offering participants opportunities to learn from inspiring keynote speakers and connect with professionals across the Frimley area. These connections have created valuable networks that participants feel confident in accessing for future challenges.
For members of local voluntary sector groups, who witness the daily struggles of residents first-hand, the programme provided valuable insights into the complexities of the NHS system. One of the key lessons was the importance of systemic change, emphasising that isolated improvements are insufficient. Instead, a holistic, patient-centred approach—coupled with cross-sector collaboration—is essential for meaningful progress in IT and service delivery.
Participant, Lorna from Slough CVS said, “With the guidance of experienced facilitators, I have had the chance to practice skills, engage in meaningful discussions, and build connections with others. This programme has increased my knowledge and made me realise that there are so many people out there in the Frimley sphere all thinking about how to make a lasting difference to our residents.”
