Governance Case Study: WAM Get Involved (WAMGI)

Good governance helps community groups do what they do best — support people well, safely, and sustainably.

Grassroots community and voluntary organisations are often closest to local need, but balancing frontline delivery with strong governance can be a challenge. Without the right training, policies, and systems in place, it can be harder for groups to work safely, show quality, or plan ahead.

At WAM Get Involved, we’re here to help. We support community groups to build strong foundations by connecting them to the right training, helping them recruit volunteers through the Volunteer Platform, and supporting the development of key policies such as risk assessment,  safeguarding, GDPR, volunteering, and equality. We also promote good safeguarding practice,  supporting groups to work towards Simple Quality Protects (SQP) for added assurance.

By focusing on governance, learning, and quality, we help build a stronger, more confident VCS across RBWM — so groups can deliver safe, inclusive, and effective services that truly meet local need.
