On Social Prescribing Day, we recognise and thank the Slough CVS Community Connectors (CC) team—Sindhu, Meena, Suki and Anita—led by Naweeda, for their outstanding work supporting local residents.

Working closely with the Adult Social Care Team at Slough Borough Council and the Discharge Unit at Wexham Park Hospital, the team plays a vital role in connecting people to voluntary and community services that support health and wellbeing.

Over the past year alone, the Community Connectors have signposted Slough residents more than 2,000 times to local organisations and services. Around half of these referrals have focused on wellbeing and befriending support, helping to reduce isolation and improve quality of life.

Their work spans a wide range of needs—from creative and social activities such as art groups to practical support, including services addressing issues like damp and mould. Residents have been connected to a diverse network of organisations, including Community Calm, Art Beyond Belief, Knit Your Socks Off, Sakoon Through Cancer, Slough Outreach, The Baby Bank, Giving Hope Furniture, Slough Food Bank, Ujala, Young People With Dementia, Dosti Group, Slough Refugee Support, Slough Immigration Aid Unit, Friends in Need, Pakistani Welfare Association, Yusra Community Group, JMIC, Without Shape Without Form, and Recycled Teenagers, as well as many local coffee mornings and lunch clubs.
