Celebrating the People, Partnerships and Progress Behind PWA

Written by Shaida Akbar, PWA

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who attended our PWA AGM today. What a beautiful day! The hall was full – our elders, mothers, sisters, youth, volunteers, and partners from across Slough. This is what PWA is – YOU.

Thank you for your time, your support, and your love for PWA.

Today we celebrated what we have achieved together:

  • Our Lunchtime Club – 10 volunteers, 1 staff, 20 hours of dedication every week
  • Our Ladies Group – the heart of our centre
  • August 14th – 500+ people, women & children enjoying Qawwali safely as one family
  • Our Youth – MMA, Kayani Camp, Halo Tuition
  • Business Workshops – empowering our community
  • Stretch & Smile & Smoking Project – looking after health
  • Men’s Coffee Morning – new space for fathers & brothers
  • NADRA Services – good, accessible services locally
  • Rain Garden – planted by our own hands, our lasting legacy for Slough
  • Ufton Court & Eid Events – joy for the whole town

And behind it all – our Volunteers – heroes with no badge.

A special thank you to Mr Sattar President – the man behind the donation that helped us purchase our own building. Without his vision and generosity, we would not be here today. Please join us in thanking him and his family.

And thank you to our partners – Slough Council, Slough CVS, NHS, Thames Valley Police, and all local organisations who support us.

Finally, a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported PWA in the past, who supports us in the present, and who will support us in the future. This building is standing because of your support, your time and your kindness.

Our promise for the future:
We will be an open PWA. An inclusive PWA.
FOR the community, BY the community, WITH the community.
Not every activity will be at the centre – we will come to you, in every street of Slough.
This is YOUR centre. If you have an idea, come to me. Our door is always open.
