Community Wellbeing Champions (CWC) Project – Missed the vaccination bus one week? Find it there again the week after.

As part of the project, Shahid, one of our Wellbeing Champion Co-ordinators knocked at Jean’s door, a Slough resident in her mid ‘80’s a couple of Thursdays ago.He said, “I spoke to Jean and asked her some wellbeing questions before letting her know about the #OneSlough vaccination bus which is parked outside Tesco Express all day every Thursday until 4.30pm. She was very keen to go to the bus that afternoon to get her vaccine. It was 4.10pm and Jean has a mobility issue, but she got herself ready and slowly started walking towards the Wexham Road Tesco. Unfortunately, she was too late to reach the vaccination bus on this occasion. However, she was not disappointed and walked back home. This week, when I was in the area with the CWC Project I saw Jean with her friend Harriet. Both women came to get their Covid-19 vaccine booster at the bus.Jean was pleased to see me and said, ‘It was you who I spoke to last week! Look I’ve brought my friend Harriet with me, she also needed her vaccine. Both of us have mobility problems so, we supported each other on our way to the bus.’They said, it was so convenient the bus was near their homes, and they could just walk here to get the vaccine.”
