Indian Diaspora in the UK (IDUK) Celebrates 79th Indian Independence Day in Slough & Launches Kent Chapter

The morning of 15th August, Slough shone with pride and patriotism as more than 500 members of the Indian diaspora gathered at 7:30 am to celebrate the 79th Independence Day of India. The event reflected unity, love, and devotion to the Motherland, with families, children, and community members coming together in the true spirit of freedom.

The occasion was graced by the Deputy Mayor of Slough, Cllr. Neel Rana; Ex-MP Virendra Sharma Ji; former Mayors; Councillors; and distinguished community leaders. Their presence, alongside the enthusiastic participation of families, filled the atmosphere with joy, hope, and the timeless values of sacrifice, resilience, and pride that India’s freedom fighters gifted us.

Speaking on the occasion, IDUK Co-Founders and Directors — Mr. Hirdesh Gupta, Mr. Ajay Murudkar, and Mr. Alok Gupta have extended heartfelt gratitude to all the guests, diaspora members, performers, sponsors, and volunteers for their participation and support. They also expressed delight at IDUK’s growing footprint across the UK.

Launch of IDUK Kent Chapter in Ashford

Marking the Independence Day celebrations, IDUK proudly announced the launch of its Kent Chapter in Ashford. The inauguration was graced by Mr. Sojan Joseph, MP of Ashford and Kent, who commended the efforts of IDUK in uniting and empowering the Indian diaspora.
