Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi MP unveiled a commemorative blue plaque at Cats Protection’s original headquarters in Slough.
The plaque was placed outside 29 Church Street, home of Slough Council for Voluntary Service (SCVS) and many other voluntary sector groups and was the home of the UK’s leading feline welfare charity from 1935 to 1978. The MP was joined by representatives of both charities and tenants as they saw the plaque revealed.
Mr Dhesi said: “It was wonderful to be able to celebrate the role the building had in the formation of Cats Protection. I felt it was important to honour both the heritage of Slough, which has long been a place which nurtures fledgling organisations, as well as the lineage of the charity.”
