New art installation promotes the cultural diversity of Slough

If you pop down to Duke’s House opposite the bus station on the A4 in Slough, you will come across a new art installation, featuring 44 Slough residents, with each image representing a different language or dialect spoken in Slough. The building has been painted in multi colours and the 44 images fill the windows. Underneath the images is the word ‘WELCOME’ in the languages spoken by that person. The project was the brainchild of local photographer Mike Swift and came to fruition thanks to collaboration with The Slough Hub and funding from Slough BID. The photographs were taken by Mike Swift and 10 Smartphone photographers that Mike trained.

Mike Swift said: “I have had a few exhibitions in my day but nothing as splendid, large or long lasting as this one.”

There will be an official’ launch next month, where residents can meet some of the people in the images, the photographers and the story writers.
