Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, designed to help researchers to discover new ways to prevent, detect, and treat diseases. The aim is to build a community of five million people over the age of 18, from across the UK, who will donate their health information, to create a powerful national resource that could help future generations live in good health for longer.
Sbba Siddique, Director at Asian Star Radio and Co Founder at Knit Your Socks Off, had the opportunity to share her cancer journey but also why health research is so important particularly for BAME communities.
Sbba said: “I was really keen to take part in this project because one of the biggest things that I noticed during my cancer journey was the lack of data and involvement of people from South Asian communities in clinical trials and research. This needs to change, as its vital to ensure new treatments and the side effects they will inevitably bring also take into account the difference that people from BAME communities have.”
Samina Hussain, Founder of Sakoon Through Cancer said: “Sakoon Through Cancer were excited to collaborate with Our Future Health to raise awareness of research and health prevention. Early detection saves lives.”
Joining Our Future Health is, first and foremost, an act to help others. You will be giving your time and data for free to help researchers make discoveries about human health and disease. This will hopefully benefit future generations, helping people to live in good health for longer. Do consider signing up and sharing this message with your networks so we can benefit future generations.
