If you haven’t been to the town centre since lockdown started, you will see a new addition in the form of a huge new banner outside Unit 38, The High Street, promoting the Slough Giving Fund. The Slough Giving Fund was set up to enable Slough CVS to provide grants for the voluntary sector, to continue with their valuable work during the pandemic.
Since the fund was established, grants have been used to provide food for those in need in Slough and buy computer tablets to support isolated carers access social activities.
As we head towards recovery and building up the resilience of our community, there’s a lot more need, with job losses, an increase in mental health problems and fuel and food poverty to name just a few.
Ramesh Kukar said, “Regular meetings with One Slough members mean that we can identify problems and find solutions, so that they don’t escalate. Having this fund allows us to act quickly and provide resources to our voluntary sector who have the experience and skills to deal with them.”
Thanks to British Land, the banner was designed and installed by Nexus Engage for Slough CVS and the Slough Giving Fund, re-purposing unused shop space in the town centre and engaging residents.
As Lockdown 3 comes to an end and people return to the high street, your community still needs support. You can donate £3 at a time, it’s easy, just scan to donate. The huge banner is outside Unit 38, High Street, Slough, you can’t miss it and there are some familiar faces there too!
