The #OneSlough Community Wellbeing Champions (CWC) have been hard at work going above and beyond to help get the town vaccinated.

Through Shin Dhother from Slough Outreach, the Champions were put in touch with resident Andrew Coleman who was overdue for his COVID-19 vaccine.

“People are getting COVID anyways, so I thought, what’s the point of getting the vaccine,” said Mr. Coleman. “Having mobility issues and difficulty walking has definitely also been a factor for me as to why it has taken me this long to get my first dose.”

The Champions initially went to meet Mr. Coleman to answer any questions he had about the vaccine and explain the importance of it to him. They arranged for a taxi to pick him up and bring to Salt Hill Activity Centre where he could get jabbed.

One of the CWC’s provided reassurance, also accompanying Mr. Coleman to Salt Hill Activity Centre, where he was welcomed by NHS staff and volunteers. The CWC waited with him whilst he had the vaccine.

‘’I would definitely recommend getting in touch with the Community Champions if you need any assistance having your jab done,’ said Mr. Coleman.  They have been so helpful, and kind and I just want to say thank you to them for all they have done.”
