Residents of Slough were invited to take part in the first ever State of the Borough debate that took place on 17th July 2025 at Slough & Langley College, hosted by Mayor of Slough Siobhan Dauti and facilitated by Sbba Siddique and Slough CVS Trustee Tom Conlin. Amongst the panel were Slough CVS Chairman, Jamie Green and youth representatives David Essien, Member of the Slough Youth Parliament and Omar Mahamoud, Young Ambassador for Slough Children First.
Sbba Siddique commented: “It was great to hear from the panel on their vision for Slough’s future, as well as from the audience who challenged the panel with a range of questions on the themes of the event.”
Mayor of Slough Siobhan Dauti added: “It was very refreshing to hear our group leaders talking about working together to improve outcomes for residents, and speaking so honestly and openly.”
Discussions were based on questions received in advance:
- Young People – opportunities, activities and education
- The Role of the Council – particularly the council’s finances
- The town centre – improvement plans
