The Big Slough Summit 2026, organised and delivered by Slough CVS in partnership with Slough Borough Council, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, NHS Thames Valley, Slough Children First and Slough Borough Council Public Health, brought together more than 150 statutory and voluntary sector partners.
The Summit provided an opportunity to share a collective vision shaped by NHS Neighbourhood Health, the Slough 2040 vision, the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and wider strategies — all powered by the strength of community action.
At the heart of the Summit was a shared commitment to developing a more integrated approach to health and care, recognising the vital role of our Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector in improving the quality of life for Slough residents and communities.
The importance of bringing different voices and perspectives together was reflected in the discussions held during the Summit. Shoba Resalayyan, Programme Manager at Viva Slough, who facilitated one of the discussions, captured the spirit of the day:
“Today, I had the opportunity to facilitate a World Café discussion at the Slough Summit 2040 Slough CVS, bringing together different voices and perspectives to explore what the future of Slough could look like as part of the Slough 2040 Vision.
“What stood out to me was the richness of the conversations — different experiences, different ideas, but a shared ambition to make Slough a better place to live, work and grow. Looking forward to seeing how these conversations help shape Slough’s future.”
These conversations demonstrated the value of creating spaces where organisations, communities and individuals can share their experiences, identify challenges and contribute to shaping solutions together.
The Summit was an important first step on a positive journey — helping us to identify gaps, understand where support is needed, and explore how statutory and community organisations can work together more effectively to improve outcomes for local people.
A huge thank you to our panellists, Sam Burrows, Kathryn MacDermott, Jane Senior, Karla Inniss and Kelly Evans, as well as all our facilitators, speakers and everyone who contributed to making the Summit such a valuable and inspiring day.
