VCS Partnership Volunteer Fair Brings Community Together at Maidenhead Library

The VCS Partnership Volunteer Fair, held at Maidenhead Library on Tuesday 2nd June, was a resounding success, bringing together local charities, community groups, organisations, and residents for a morning of networking, collaboration, and community engagement.

A total of 61 people registered for the event, with 24 organisations hosting stalls and a further 10 groups providing information through leaflets and promotional materials. Throughout the morning, more than 80 residents attended the fair, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, as they explored volunteering opportunities and learned more about the services available across the borough.

There was a real buzz in the room, as organisations connected with residents and with one another. The event provided a valuable opportunity for groups to share ideas, build relationships, and explore future collaborations, strengthening the local voluntary and community sector.

Representatives from a wide range of charities and community organisations were on hand to discuss volunteering opportunities, answer questions, and showcase the positive impact their work has within the community. Residents were able to discover new ways to get involved, support local causes, and contribute their skills and time to organisations making a difference.

During the event, Eram from WAM Get Involved visited each stall to speak with organisations about the volunteer platform and the benefits it offers both groups and volunteers. These conversations highlighted the importance of effective volunteer recruitment and management tools in helping organisations grow their volunteer base and increase community participation.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Eram Dodhy, RBWM Partnerships Officer, said:

“Thank you to all of the local charities, community groups and organisations who attended to chat to people about the services they offer and how to get involved. We received lots of positive feedback, making new connections, meeting new grassroots organisations and seeing such an event come to life at Maidenhead Library.”

The VCS Partnership would like to thank everyone who attended and contributed to making the event such a success. The fair highlighted the incredible work taking place across the borough and reinforced the vital role that volunteers play in supporting communities and improving lives.
