On Monday, 17th March, 19 dedicated volunteers from nine voluntary organisations across Slough were given a unique opportunity to visit the historic Windsor Castle. This visit was made possible by the Royal Collection Trust’s generous donation of tickets, as part of their ongoing efforts to support community organisations.

The day began with a warm welcome, including refreshments and an engaging introduction to the castle’s rich history, delivered by Amy Stocker, Access and Inclusion Manager at the Royal Collection Trust. Following this insightful session, volunteers enjoyed a self-guided tour of Windsor Castle’s stunning grounds, the magnificent St George’s Chapel, and the opulent State Apartments.

The visit was met with enthusiastic feedback, with one volunteer sharing:

“Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for a lovely day yesterday. I had a wonderful time meeting a friendly group. It was such a special day for myself, doing something I love, as most of my days off are spent doing things for others.”

Hangama from Awaz Group also shared: “I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the amazing opportunity to visit Windsor Castle. It was truly an unforgettable experience for our community, and we are so grateful to have had the chance to explore such an iconic landmark. A special thank you to Tagreed for being an exceptional tour guide. Her knowledge, warmth, and enthusiasm made the tour so enjoyable and engaging. She truly brought the history of Windsor Castle to life and ensured that everyone felt included and informed throughout the visit. We are all so appreciative of the effort and care put into organising this event. It is such a valuable experience for the community. Thank you once again for everything!”

The participating groups included Art Beyond Belief, Awaz Group, Project Salama, HomeStart Slough, The London & Slough Run, Slough Anti-Litter Society, Giving Hope Furniture, JMIC, and ABC To Read.
