Tea Brings Together Generations from Together As One and Slough 50+ Forum

There’s something special about sitting down over a cup of tea and sharing a conversation, and Together As One’s recent afternoon with the Slough 50+ Forum was a wonderful reminder of just how much different generations can learn from one another.
Following a fantastic masterclass from Chef Kevin Muhammad, our young volunteers were ready to put their new skills to the test, preparing an impressive spread of sandwiches and cream teas for members of the Slough 50+ Forum at Slough CVS’s main hall.

But while the food was certainly a highlight, it was the connections made around the table that made the afternoon truly special.

Young volunteers and older members of the community spent time together sharing stories, laughing, exchanging experiences and simply getting to know one another. What began as a lovely afternoon has now become one of our favourite annual events, and it is always heartwarming to see different generations come together and discover just how much they have in common.

These opportunities are about more than bringing people together. They create space for conversations that might not otherwise happen, help challenge assumptions between generations and allow everyone involved to share their experiences, skills and perspectives.

A huge thank you to the wonderful members of the Slough 50+ Forum for joining us, and a massive well done to all the young volunteers who made the afternoon such a success. We’d also like to say a special thank you to Chef Kevin Muhammad for sharing his skills, inspiring our young volunteers and making sure everyone enjoyed such an amazing spread. And finally, a special shout-out to Marcia, Mr and Mrs Davda, and Laurie for taking the time to send such lovely messages of thanks afterwards. Your words meant a great deal to the young people and everyone involved.
